Curtis Mayfield: Soul Stirring

Curtis Lee Mayfield is a soul music saint. From his first to last album he made uplifting songs that inspired generations to stand up for what’s right. Even when he couldn’t stand up himself.

On October 26 1996, Curtis Mayfield’s album, New World Order, made it onto the Billboard charts. The album would spend 50 weeks on the chart, peaking at #24. This was the first album Mayfield recorded after a 1990 car accident left him paralyzed. Narada Michael Walden, Daryl Simmons, and Organized Noize all provided production to an LP that Mayfield recorded on his back.

One of the standout tracks from the album was the inspirational “Oh So Beautiful.”
