California has passed a law in honor of Kanye West’s late mother, Donda West, that protects patients from negligent plastic surgeons.

Thanks to the tireless work of Yolanda Anderson, Donda West’s niece, California’s Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has passed The Donda West Law. The law will make health checks mandatory before a patient can undergo any form of plastic surgery in the state of California.

Donda West passed away in 2007 after complication from plastic surgery. Because no health check was done prior to surgery her preexisting coronary artery disease went undetected.
