Donna Summer & Barbra Streisand: Opposites Attract

Donna & Barbra

When Donna Summer fused her vibrant disco sound with Barbra Streisand’s smooth easy listen sound, the result was a chart-topping success.

On November 24, 1979 the Donna Summer/Barbra Streisand duet “Enough Is Enough (No More Tears)” hit #1 on the pop charts. The song brought together two artist from contrasting genres. Summer was a disco queen, while Babs was known for her easy listening appeal. Both sounds were fused into the song with a slow beginning (lasting almost two minutes) then it evolved into a disco song. Featured on Streisand’s Wet album and also as a new track for Summer’s compilation double album entitled On the Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes 1 & 2, the duet became an empowering anthem for women.
