Johnny Allen Hendrix was born on November 27, 1942 in Seattle Washington. Renamed James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix by his father James Allen “Al” Hendrix, “Little Jimi” went on to become the greatest electric guitarist in the history of rock music. Hendrix was influenced by blues artists such as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Albert King, and Elmore James, and soul guitarists Curtis Mayfield. Hendrix’s innovative style of combining fuzz, feedback and controlled distortion created a new musical form. Hendrix headlined the iconic 1969 Woodstock Festival
