On October 29, 1983, Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long (All Night)” was #1 on Billboard’sR&B charts. The uptempo Caribbean flavored hit, which reached #1 on Billboard’s Top 100, was one of the five hit singles from Richie’ 1983 album, Can’t Slow Down.

On the same day Richie’s hometown in Tuskegee, Alabama proclaimed the day “Lionel Richie Day.”
