Precious Receives 6 Oscar Nominations
By Rondell Conway -
The 2010 Oscar nominations were announced today and the emotional drama Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire received 6 nominations.
Precious has lived up to the Oscar hype. The movie, which is an adaption of the award winning novel by Sapphire was nominated for Best Picture. For her role as an illiterate, sexually abused 16 year old, actress Gabourey Sidibe was nominated for Best Actress. Her co-star comedian/actress Mo’Nique got the nod for Best Supporting Actress for her chilling role as the main character’s, abusive mother. Director Lee Daniels is going to face off against James Cameron (Avatar) and Quentin Tarantino, (Inglourious Basterds) for Best Director. The two other categories the film is up for an Oscar in are Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing.
Congrats! I have a feeling Mo’Nique is about to make some history. Ya’ll better have your Kleenex ready.
