Last night pop star Rihanna sat down with ABC’s Diane Sawyer for an exclusive interview that was very emotional at times. The singer talked about witnessing her father beat her mother, how much she loved Chris Brown leading up to night he assaulted her, and relived the moment she was beaten by the R&B singer. The details of the February incident were very hard for Rihanna to speak about. She recalled how Brown lost himself during the assault.

“At that point, I just didn’t know what could happen,” she continued. “He was clearly blacked out. There was no person when I looked at him. It was almost as if he had nothing to lose. He had so much to lose. But it was almost as if he had nothing to lose. It wasn’t the same person that says I loved you. It definitely wasn’t those eyes.”
