Whitney Houston may have had her troubles throughout the years, but the R&B legend’s career got off to a remarkable start with her self-titled debut album.
On March 8, 1986 Whitney Houston’s self-titled debut reached #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 charts staying there for fourteen weeks non-consecutive. The album got off to a slow start after it’s release in February 1985. On the strengthen of hit singles, “You Give Good Love,” “Saving All My Love for You,” “How Will I Know,” and “Greatest Love of All,” the album shot up charts. Remaining on the Billboard 200 for 162 weeks, it spent a record 46 weeks in the top 10.
