You can’t talk about Philadelphia soul without talking about The Stylistics. And you can’t talk about The Stylistics without mentioning their classic hit “You Are Everything.”
On October 30, 1971, The Stylistics’ “You Are Everything” made its debut on the R&B charts. The passionate love song, which would go on to reach #10 (R&B) and #9 (Pop), was the third of twelve straight Top 10 R&B hits.
Three years after it’s success, Motown icons Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye recorded a cover of “You Are Everything.” Featured on their duet album, Diana & Marvin, the song was not released as a single in the US, but found international success as a chart-topper in the UK.
