At the beginning of 2009 some of these artists weren’t household names, but by year’s end they made a significant impact on the music we love. There’s Keri Hilson. The long time songwriter finally got her moment to shine and she got a Grammy nomination for her effort. Another newcomer who’ll be vying for a Grammy is Melanie Fiona. The Canadian beauty captured the attention of the masses with her hit single “It Kills Me.” Now Jeremih won’t be collecting any hardware, but he did have one of the biggest singles of the year in “Birthday Sex.” Another R&B dude to make his mark with a popular single was K’Jon with “Ocean.”.
